What I lived,
and what God restored
This is the story behind my book, my coaching, and my ministry. I tell it in full because silence was my prison for years — and breaking it was the beginning of everything.
At 15, my life changed drastically: my beloved mother, Alma, died giving birth to my little brother. My siblings and I were uprooted from our home in Saltillo, Mexico, and taken to live with our maternal grandparents in the United States, in a deeply controlling environment.
Like my mother before me, I was forbidden to see the boy I loved and promised to another man in an arranged marriage. My childhood dreams went out the window, and I was trapped in a loveless marriage. Back in Mexico, medical malpractice — in the same hospital where my mother began slipping away — took my first child from me. My husband's neglect and his family's growing resentment wore me down physically, emotionally, and spiritually. For years there seemed to be no light at the end of the tunnel.
I turned to my faith — I turned to Jesus — to survive.
My life today
Today I am happily married to Joel since 2016. We live in Frisco, Texas, with our children, and I embrace my mother's legacy by following in her footsteps: ministering love, hope, and encouragement to others.
I am a certified Christian Life Coach and a medical interpreter and translator for the community. I grew up between Mexico and the United States, fully immersed in both languages and cultures. I partner with organizations that help women break free from abuse and human trafficking and find their worth in Christ. My greatest passion is seeing people from every walk of life reach their goals and their calling.
